Bedtime Challenge Update

2018

It has been more than 21 days since I first started my first Bedtime Challenge.  How is it going?

Well, let’s just say we are starting our next 21 Day Bedtime Challenge on Sunday and no, the kids will not be getting the gifts they first chose.  However, we have made improvements!  My kids were going to bed well after midnight.  Now they are going to be between 10-11 p.m..  My son who would stay up with his dad until 3 a.m. in the morning is now in the bed by 1 a.m.. so I will get them a small token to keep them motivated.

What do you do when you get off track?  Rise up!

Proverbs 24:16 reminds us that “For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again: but the wicked shall fall into mischief.”

So, here we go again. I will hold a family meeting on Sunday, October 14 and share our 21 Day Bedtime Challenge!

My SMART intention:  I intend to tuck my kids in bed 15 minutes earlier every night until we reach our goal of 9:00 p.m..  This is relevant to our lives to preserve my sanity and their health.  Our target date for reaching this goal is November 4, 2018.

Action Plan:  There will be no screen time after 7 p.m..  We will start the bedtime routine with dinner starting 3 hours before the target bedtime.

Rewards:  Together the kids chose a prize that they would get after successfully reaching our target goal for 21 days.

Reinforcement:  We will review the benefits of rest each day as as family and integrate a spotlight into our homeschool routine.

*NEW* Consequences:  The last time I did this challenge I did not have consequences which I think hindered our momentum.  I focused on the rewards only.  The consequence of not getting in the bed on-time will be no screen time the next day.

If you already have a routine and made success in your Bedtime Battles, we would love to hear from you!  Please share below.  Don’t forget to check out our Bedtime Battles Pinterest Board as we go through this journey together.
