Super Mom

What was the first thing you did this morning? OK

If you are anything like me, after worship, the next thing you do or think about is your family.  I strive to be like the Proverbs 31 woman who in verse 15 “riseth while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household…”.

Proverbs 31 talks about all the things this mom does for others and to top it off, do you know what she eats?  OK, I don’t know that either but the Bible says “she eateth not the bread of idleness” (Proverbs 31:27).

In reading this passage I have come to envision a super mom.  Able to leap mounds of laundry in one simple bound.  But this is not so.  This virtuous woman had help.  Remember verse 15?  It states that she:

“Riseth while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household and a portion to her maidens.”

Did you read that?  “her maidens”.

Here I was thinking I had to do it all when the virtuous woman had help herself!!

I am reminded of Jesus talking to Martha in Luke 10:41-42:

“Thou art careful and troubled about many things.  But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her.”

That was so powerful I have to repeat it “one thing is needful”.  When it all comes down to it, only one thing is needful.  When I narrow my life down to the One I realize, I don’t want to be left behind when Jesus comes again.  I don’t want any mom to be left behind.
