Psalms 37:7 – Rest in the Lord

Yesterday we talked about allowing God to fight our battles for us.  However, while we are waiting for God to step in, we might get a little restless.

This is where Psalms 37:7 comes in:

“Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.”

We need to rest in the Lord and wait patiently for Him.

The key word here is patiently which means “able to accept or tolerate delays, problems, or suffering without becoming annoyed or anxious”.  We need to wait without becoming annoyed OR anxious!!!!   This can only happen through resting in God and allowing His Spirit to dwell in our hearts through daily prayer and Bible study.

This verse reminds me of another promise found in Isaiah 40:31:

But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

Today, as we write Psalms 37:7 on our hearts, let us ask God to help us wait patiently for Him.
